680 Graphic Design & Printing, Benicia
Background: When Karla Santiago decided to develop a graphic design and printing business in Benicia, she realized the need to learn all she could about self-employment and business development. She enrolled in the NxLeveL Entrepreneurial Training program, developed her draft business plan, and 680 Graphic Design & Printing was born.
Recently, Karla contacted the SBDC for assistance in determining the feasibility of developing a shared mail advertising booklet to promote businesses in Solano County.
Karla worked with SBDC Marketing Consultant, Jerry Jinnett, on market research and business plan development. Utilizing the resources of Small Business Development Center National Information Clearinghouse (SBDCNET), they were able to evaluate the local market, identify competition, establish an advertising fee structure, and locate a cost-effective booklet printer. Karla is also continuing to work with SBDC counselor, Floyd Hicks, on the development of the financial projections.
Karla has completed logo design/name and has applied for the trademark. Because of the ongoing assistance from SBDC counselors, she is making an educated and well-planned move to include this new product offering into her business plan.
“I found the NxLeveL training program very informative and helpful. It covered every aspect of starting and owning a business to growing an existing business. I'm glad this program was available to help me do the necessary research to get my business started.”
